Frequently Asked Questions
What’s included in the cost?
The trip includes all kayaking equipment, camping gear, meals, experienced guides, national park fees, and return transport from Hobart. A full packing list and Trip Essentials Guide will be provided after booking.
What do I need to bring?
You’ll need to bring personal clothing, a sleeping bag, and a sense of adventure! We’ll send you a detailed checklist once your booking is confirmed.
How physically demanding is the trip?
This is a moderate to challenging trip. You should be comfortable with outdoor camping and paddling for several hours a day. A good level of fitness will help you enjoy the experience fully.
I have a disability, injury or access need. Can I join?
We want to do everything we can to support guests with disability to get out on the water. Because of the nature of sea kayaking, the remote and exposed places our trips go, and the diverse range of disabilities in our community, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. We encourage you to call us on 0455 949 777 or email info@roaring40skayaking.com.au before booking. We’ll talk through your needs and recommend a paddle that suits you, along with any adjustments we can make.
We’re also interested in new and emerging adaptive equipment and technology that helps people with disability enjoy paddling. If you use gear or have ideas that could help, we’d love to hear about it.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is our top priority. Our guides constantly monitor conditions and will adapt the itinerary if needed. Tasmania’s southwest is wild and remote — flexibility is part of the adventure.
Can I join solo?
Absolutely! Many of our guests come alone. You’ll meet like-minded adventurers and share an incredible group experience.
