The Wilderness on Water Experience

Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area

Journey to a place where time stands still

Challenge and adventure, remote and magnificent landscapes, expert leadership – join a Roaring 40°s Kayaking adventure and explore the wilderness waterways of southwest Tasmania, Australia’s island state, with a paddle in your hand.

This is Australia’s ultimate multi-day sea kayaking experience. Bathurst Harbour and Port Davey has been named "the most magnificant paddling destination in Australia" by Australian Geographic Outdoor Magazine and "one of the world's 10 epic sea kayak paddles" by Lonely Planet. This area offers a combination of sheltered wilderness harbours, rugged ocean coastlines, remote islands and wild rivers. There are no roads and no settlements. We reach spectacular destinations in the best possible way – by water, at a paddling pace.

Roaring 40°s Kayaking have been kayaking in the wilderness of southwest Tasmania since 1998. As the only kayaking guides working there, we know the place intimately – all the sheltered bays and open beaches, all the peaks and high places, every hidden corner and comfortable campsite.

When you explore these World Heritage Area waterways with us, you’ll share our knowledge, skills and experience. You’ll traverse wild places in a way that few others do, in a sea kayak. You’ll leave the wilderness with great stories to tell – and you may even find that’s it’s a life-changing adventure.

Our kayaking eco-tours range from three to seven days – there’s one to suit your interest and your ability.
